United have had three permanent managers in the four seasons since his departure, and yet fans are yet to see a dramatic upturn in their fortunes.Yes, they have won trophies, lifting the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal and sealing a League Cup and Europa League double under Jose Mourinho. But their standing in the Premier League has barely moved since Moyes exit. They may have finished runners-up last season, but this term has shown just how far behind top rivals Manchester City and Liverpool they are.

Manchester United - no progress?

I feel like in the four years or so since I was managing there, its probably not moved on much more. Its quite similar, theyre still saying there needs to be changes and has to be things done. That time since I felt hasnt been used awfully well.Moyes also urged United to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and bring back their old transfer philosophy of signing the next generation of star players.Uniteds recent managerial history as a huge departure from the norm, following Sir Alexs trophy-laden 27 year reign at Old Trafford. After struggling for regular success since the legendary manager’s retirement, Moyes believes the club simply have to stick by their current boss.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United have lost seven of their last nine games3

The Scot is also concerned the club has lost its way in the transfer market and has been too focused on bringing ready-made superstars to Old Trafford.Manchester United stood for so many good things for me, Moyes added. They supported their manager in difficult times, they made sure they got the best young players, they didnt follow the trends of lots of bother clubs. For me, those things have been broken a little bit. They always bought young up-and-coming players, there was a different philosophy in the types of players they brought in.But now theyve had to follow the others because they need that instant success. They need to give ole time and an opportunity to give it around, but it will be difficult.Bringing on all your young players in great, thats what we really want to do, but its not necessarily going to get you results and winning leagues right away.
